Recently founded Romanian police union (SNPPC) associates to EuroCOP.

The EuroCOP Committee ensured an important step in the development of the Romanian police union (SNPPC) by voting to accept the Romanian colleagues as an Associate Member of EuroCOP.

SNPPC President, Constantin Vieriu stressed the significance of this association to EuroCOP describing it as “the first page in the history book of the Romanian Police Union.”

SNPPC is currently in the process of constituting itself, having only been founded in January this year and is in the process of establishing branches throughout Romania.

While SNPPC is recognized by law in Romania as staff representative organisation, they still face a number of obstacles in their day-to-day work. Challenges that lie ahead include striving to reduce political influence on the police force and encouraging decentralisation. Aiming to secure better working conditions and encouraging progressive ideas are among SNPPC’s main priorities.

According to EuroCOP President Heinz Kiefer, “SNPPC needs EuroCOP's support in this process of establishment and we will endeavour to help our Romanian colleagues all we can to ensure their development.”
