Electing
a new chairwoman and motions for congress. Those were the main points
discussed when The Women’s Conference met for their annual meeting in
Luxembourg on January 30-31.
“It was a very good and productive meeting,” the newly elected
Chairwoman Lillemor Melin Sving commented right after the meeting.
“We had a fresh start with six new representatives. It is very
encouraging to see that there is so much enthusiasm present and great
ambitions,” Lillemor Melin Sving added.
Present at the conference were four new delegates from Belgium, Scotland,
Greece and Germany as well as three “veterans”, coming from Denmark,
Sweden and Catalunya, Spain. Also present was Executive Committee Member
Norrie Flowers from Scotland, who was very pleased about the work the
women had presented.
The next step for the Women’s Conference is to make their work more
visible, in particular on the EuroCOP Homepage, as well as preparing
motions for the upcoming congress.
“The deadline for motions is in May this year, so the three main Women
Representatives – Sandra Temmen and Jackie Muller and I – will meet up
at the next EuroCOP Committee in Oslo in March this year to discuss this
further”, Lillemor Melin Sving said.
The motions proposed were increasing the number of Women Representatives
to four, instead of the current three, in order for all regions to be
represented. The Women’s Conference also calls for two meetings per year
instead of only meeting once a year, which the case is right now. It will
also continue its work with the Questionnaire on Part Time Work. The
outcome of the Questionnaire will result in a best practise document, as
planned.
